As history goes, an awesome place to visit. But honestly be warned, most of the Fort was closed up, including the visitor center. Granted, mid-week, mid-day visit but very disappointed in the long drive to lose out on the extras available if everything wasn't locked up. Very pretty area, large grounds. I hope to revisit when the Fort is staffed. I happened to be the only person in the park for my 1 1/2 hour visit.
I was there off season but i will be back fot the tour really cool fort ...if you like old things stop by here lot of history here
Great park, enjoyed a weekend that included a living history portion with people living as they did when the fort was in use.
Horrible staff. They are rude as hell and I will not be returning. Plus I got a $74 fine
An excellent historical site. The period actors/soldiers were well informed and the staff were very helpful. They have great history of the Territory and the Louisiana purchase...and the United States and Native Americans in particular .
